our commitment to environment and social care

Green Juice
… our commitment to environment and social care.

It seems these days that everyone is jumping on the Green Bandwagon, but long before it was ‘trendy’ Skin Juice implemented strategies to help preserve the earth and to create a positive Life Cycle for the elements we use within our brand.

Before committing to use any materials, we carefully access where they fall within the Life Cycle and how we can help maintain a positive flow with minimal stress on the environment.

Recycled and recyclable

Recycling is the first step to an eco-positive solution. However Skin Juice wants to challenge the Life Cycle process and take this one step further by utilising the recycled form as well, as we do with our 100% PCR bottles. After all, why recycle the plastic if you’re not going to use the end product as well?

Multi layered packaging are difficult to dismantle before recycling and generally involve more then one type of plastic; for these reasons, we do not use these types of packaging in our range.

PET Plastic -  Because this is a common and recyclable plastic, many companies use PET plastic and declare that they are environmentally conscious; however, we need to confront the issue of reassigning the recycled plastic to a new use.

Recycled plastic has gone through a first life cycle as perhaps a drink bottle or milk bottle, and would otherwise end up as landfill.  By utilising PCR plastics in our manufacturing, we reduce landfill and save on resources used to create virgin plastics.  This plastic can then go onto to the Life Cycle of recycling!

Signature bottles:  Our popular signature containers are made from 100% post consumer recycled plastic (PCR).

Glass - Clean and clear, glass is widely recognised as a recycled element and also a reusable element, thanks to its natural durability and quality.

Aluminium - Out of the kitchen and into your beauty kit, aluminium is the world’s number one recycled material!

Biodegradable and sustainable

Biodegradable and organic materials are used to support sustainability.

Jute - A natural and renewable fibre, jute is also a biodegradable element.  So for example, when our customers are finished with our beautiful boxes, we urge them to tear up and compost or dig them into the garden; delivering nutrients while limiting the amount of waste or need for recycling.

The jute we use is sustainably farmed, 100% fair trade and positive for the environment.  The root of the jute plant plays a vital role in sustainability for farmers by enhancing the fertility of the soil without the need for chemicals.  By rotating with other crops such as rice and potatoes, jute acts as a barrier to pests and diseases, as well as providing a substantial contribution to other crops in the form of organic matter and micronutrients.

Sales of Jute also assist in empowering women with greater lifestyle opportunities.

Organic and natural ingredients - Organic ingredients are farmed without the use of pesticides and with respect to the earth and its qualities.Back to top

Reusable

This means an item that has had a first life can be altered to serve a second purpose without the need for virgin resources.

Second-hand trees

Wherever possible, we use wood from commercial pallets, (which isn’t suitable for burning as it’s treated and would throw nasty emissions into our environment). However, when tailored to our displays and trade show needs, this timber creates an attractive and functional unit.  And of course, no virgin wood is required thus helping to preserve our precious natural resources.

Carbon Neutral

Hey, we never said we were perfect!  But we’re doing everything we can to reduce our carbon footprint.

Sadly, we cannot operate without contributing to some carbon emissions, so we aim to address this by offsetting what we use wherever possible.  We achieve this by helping to replant native trees in some of the most environmentally vulnerable areas within Australia.
